No, that’s not photoshop. That was the brainchild of a young American fashion photographer Melvin Sokolsky. It was 1963 and Sokolsky was assigned to shoot the Spring Collection for the fashion magazine Harper’s Bazaar. First introduced to Hieronymus Bosch’s Garden of Earthly Delights as a child by his father, Sokolsky’s obsession with this enigmatic painting would make this series iconic and unparalleled in the history of fashion photography. Sassy supermodels floating over Paris in plexiglass bubbles was probably the closest that someone had gotten to Bosch’s extravaganza.

Here’s a look at some of the photographs from the series but with an addition. We decided to spice it up! The background score is “Bubble Pop!”, the title track of South Korean singer Hyuna’s 2011 debut extended play. The music video for the song, released on July 5, 2011, by Cube Entertainment made Hyuna the first Korean female solo singer to reach more than 100 million views on a single YouTube video. And this was despite Cube Entertainment’s halting of promotions because the song’s video, choreography, and on-stage costumes were deemed by the Korea Communications Commission (KCC) to be “too sexually suggestive”.

Be it Bosch, Sokolsky, or Hyuna, nothing’s going to pop their bubble of fame!
